In the beginning

So, you want to retire early?

So, you want to retire early?

Of course you do, we all want to retire early.

What does retiring early even mean?

  • Is it being able to live every day of your life doing exactly what you want to?
  • Is it working at a job because you love it and not because you need to “pay the bills?”
  • Is it waking up when you want to and then spending the rest of the day doing what it is that fulfills you most?

I believe that it is all of the reasons above and more.

So how do we do it? I can tell you the journey won’t be an easy one but it is doable, at least I think it is. I say this because I am still working on it myself, chipping away day by day. I have learned a lot on this journey and still have a lot to learn but together I think we can get there.

First things first, we need to create a budget

Second, stop creating more debt.

The third thing we’ll do is to set up a Money Plan. This is sometimes referred to as a goal.

Fourth we’ll need to pay off debt.

Fifth we will need to save money and invest it wisely.

The big question: How much money are we going to need?

Here’s an easy calculation to place you in the ballpark:

Let’s say your monthly budget is $4,000.00

Total amount needed per year           $48,000.00

Some people will need more and some people will need less. It really is as easy as that. You will just need to make sure you are leaving anything out of you budget. We’ll cover that in a later post.

Once your investments have created yearly income that is equal to or greater than the total amount needed per year you are retired or better stated you have broken the chains of monetary bondage. “YOU ARE FREE!”
